Chinese designer Ruohan Nie offered a subtle yet elevated take on the everyday for fall 2024.
Nie said the collection is the final chapter of her three-part series that explores forms, lines, and points. But that abstract inspiration did not translate in a legible way on the runway, leaving the audience in the dark on the overall narrative.
What came through, however, was the layerings, the cozy-looking fabrics, and elongated shapes in beige, black, white, gray and red, which in itself was solid, elevated and commercially viable.
But her show coming on the final day of a month’s worth of shows, which ended with a bang with heavy hitters like Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton, required something more expressive than what Nie offered here.
