Known for its Mexican–style tacos and oven-roasted pork carnitas, Nacho Taco announced its final day of business through a social media post on Feb. 24.
The popular Spartanburg downtown Mexican restaurant closed the final weekend of February. The business, owned by Fabian Mata and located at 129 N. Spring St., has operated since 2017, according to OneSpartanburg Inc. — a business, tourism, and economy entity.
A heartfelt farewell Facebook message mentioned the “friendships and connections” that will last a lifetime and its immediate closing.
Nacho Taco was among six Mexican-style restaurants serving up dishes near downtown, including Mezcal Taberna Mexicana (143 W. Main St.), El Paso Tacos & Tequila (149 S. Daniel Morgan Ave), and Bronco Mexican Restaurant (1560 Union St. and 435 E. Main St.), Willy Taco (930 E. Main St.) and Mata’s Mexican Bar & Grill (464 E. Main St.).
All of these restaurants are considered downtown Spartanburg according to Zach Fox, communications director at OneSpartanburg, Inc.
