Will Rick & Michonne’s Return Be A Hit?
Originally, Rick’s return to the world of The Walking Dead was supposed to come in the form of a trilogy of films. The story has made the jump to a limited series, however, and The Ones Who Live will run for six episodes. As for the series’ story, the end of The Walking Dead has established that Rick and Michonne may be separated, but they’re still intent on finding each other.
Producer Scott M. Gimple described The Ones Who Live as an an “epic love story” in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, and it’s clear that the strong bond between Rick and Michonne is really the core around which the story revolves. As has been shown in trailers for the show, walkers won’t be the only enemies that Rick and Michonne face, with the CRM representing a major threat. Terry O’Quinn’s Major General Beale, in particular, will serve as a central antagonist.
So far, the reviews for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live have been mostly positive from critics. It remains to be seen how audiences will receive the new spinoff, but critics have praised the series’ balance of epic action and more intimate moments between its lead characters.
