One text from a woman’s potential suitor landed him in the doghouse.
Utsha Saha, who goes by @shahutasaha on TikTok, posted a video on the platform explaining why she canceled on her date while he was on the way to pick her up.
“I’m in shock and I need to tell people what just happened,” Saha, from London, said in her video which has garnered over 4.5 million views since being posted last January.
“I’m dressed to get dinner tonight and this man is on his way and he’s booked dinner and he’s coming to pick me up,” she continued before revealing his major faux pas.
When he was just 30 minutes from her house, Saha said her date sent her the following text: “Alright you shallow b–ch don’t judge my car. I’ve had it since I was 18 and no one has a car in London.”
The man’s disrespect was appalling to her, especially since they were just getting to know each other.
“He is a 30-plus man who has a normal career. We barely have a friendly relationship. It’s only our second time getting dinner together,” she explained.
She said even if they had known each other for longer, she still would have felt uncomfortable and said, “I barely call my friends cuss words.”
Unsure of what to do, she reached out to her younger brother who advised her to cancel on her date. She initially felt bad about canceling because he was already on his way, but she decided not to go anyhow.
“Then I thought to myself, this is not okay for me. And these are my standards. I don’t want to get dinner with someone that can just call me that whenever they want,” she said.
When her date arrived, she told him the date was off and he left, but not without calling her to moan about it being “rude” before hanging up on her when she told him how she felt.
He later changed his tune and sent her a “longa-s apology” 10 minutes later.
“This is a grown man over 30 thinking it’s okay to call a woman a b–ch before coming to pick her up for dinner.”
She said that canceling her date allowed her to meet someone nicer.
“You know what? When one door closes another opens, because another sweet boy is planning the next date for us,” she said.
“The moral of the story is, don’t be afraid to cut people off on the first go because what the hell,” she added.
Commenters below her video applauded her for standing up for herself and setting healthy standards.
“He just decided to hand you a red flag on a platter right there and then,” one person said.
“If he’s ok with calling you that as a ‘joke’ IMAGINE what he’d be ok with calling you in an argument. DODGED A BULLET,” another added.
“Wow. The way he was feeling insecure and instead of working through it, he projected it onto you. Emotionally inept,” said a third.
The Post was unable to reach Saha for comment.
