Meghan McCain ‘horrified’ over Jon Stewart ‘Daily Show’ return

Meghan McCain isn’t happy with Jon Stewart returning to his old stomping grounds, “The Daily Show,” next month.

The right-wing political commentator, 39, took to her podcast, Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat, to express her thoughts over Stewart, 61, coming back to the series after a nine-year hiatus.

The comedian exited “The Daily Show” in 2015 and it was announced on Wednesday that he will be hosting the program just on Mondays starting Feb. 12.

“I was horrified at the sort of creature he has morphed into. I found him to be the most woke, I didn’t recognize the Jon that I grew up loving. Now, he’s coming back to ‘The Daily Show,’” McCain said.

The former “The View” cohost was a fan of the Comedy Central series when Stewart was first at the helm in 1999.

However, when the show became more condemning of conservative politics, she stopped watching.

“Why can’t they pick a f—ing host, permanently?” the daughter of the late Senator John McCain wondered.

Trevor Noah was Stewart’s successor until his own departure in December 2022.

McCain is unsure “which version of Jon Stewart” she’s going to get when he comes back on the show.

“At a certain point, when does making money and having people watch your s— matter? Because if it’s just going to be MSNBC, but by a comedian, what’s the point of it, or is this going to slag on forever like zombies into the darkness?” she concluded.

Stewart will be behind the desk through the presidential election season and into 2025.

“Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’ to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season,” Chris McCarthy, chief executive of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement earlier this week.

“In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics,” McCarthy continued. “Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”

Rumors surfaced last summer that Hasan Minhaj was eyed to replace Noah.

According to a report published by The Hollywood Reporter Thursday, Minhaj, 38, was tapped to be the permanent host, but was dumped when the New Yorker shared a 2023 article alleging that he lied about several autobiographical anecdotes in his stand-up routines.
