It has been a rough couple of months for the Philadelphia Eagles. After starting the season 10-1 and looking like Super Bowl contenders, they crashed back to earth losing five of their final six regular-season games before going belly up during the postseason.
They managed to tread water. The hot start allowed them to get back into the playoffs. Their Super Bowl dreams, however, died on Wild Card Weekend. Jalen Hurts was injured. Defensive playcalling duties were taken from Sean Desai and given to Matt Patricia. There were real Murphy’s Law-type vibes from this year’s team.
Things haven’t exactly gotten better since the season ended. They have moved on from both coordinators: Desai was fired, which wasn’t exactly surprising after his mid-season demotion. Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson was recently terminated as well. Here’s a curveball.
The latter move reportedly isn’t sitting well in the Eagles’ locker room. Check out this report from 97.5 The Fanatic. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes some of the staff has issues with Johnson’s dismissal. ,

Yeah. That doesn’t bode well for the Nick Sirianni regime moving forward as discussions of tension in the organization continue.
The report is a bit of a tough look for Sirianni, who was at the center of job security rumors earlier this month as well. The Eagles seem committed to bringing him back for another season, but it certainly didn’t feel like a sure thing by the time the year ended.
Coordinators come and go, but having to replace both the offensive and defensive assistants for the second straight season is a bit of a head-turner.
Johnson played a major part in developing Jalen Hurts. He also led the 7th-ranked scoring offense in football this year. One might argue that he didn’t deserve to be let go, but that’s the nature of the beast. That’s sometimes the unfortunate downside of being an assistant coach in the NFL.
That being said it’s time for “rebuilding vibes”. Add that to the ever-growing list of things the Eagles need to do this offseason. Hopefully, that will steady the ship. Hopefully, that gets them back on track.
