Retailers shipping RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and RTX 4080 SUPER cards early
Not everyone follows NVIDIA embargoes.
A Reddit user claims to have picked up the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER two days before the official launch, but is hit with a setback because there are no publicly available drivers that work with the card. Regardless, Redditor “LightMoisture” attempted to test the card in synthetic benchmarks, which surprisingly worked.
The next GeForce 551.15 driver is expected to provide support for the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and is scheduled for release on the same day as the new Ti SUPER SKU. People who somehow purchased the new SUPER GPUs before launch, must resort to using modded drivers, official drivers that lack gaming support, or seek assistance from reviewers who already have the necessary drivers. Naturally, no one will risk sharing such drivers with unknown individuals, so for now such GPUs are not useful for much work.
The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER from PNY is apparently not the only SUPER card already shipping. Other people on Facebook groups claim to have RTX 4080 SUPER already but were also looking for drivers. Here we should mention that NVIDIA has not yet released such a driver or will do so after 4070 Ti SUPER launch, so such drivers simply do not exist.
Returning to the Redditor with the PNY RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, this person put the card to V-Ray benchmarks, featuring both CUDA and RTX benchmarks. Here one should note that the GPU-Z software is already compatible with the latest SUPER cards, displaying full BIOS data and specifications for the new GPU.
In the Cinebench benchmark, the RTX 4070 Ti scores 27097 points which appears to be 21% faster than RTX 4070 SUPER. In V-Ray GPU benchmarks, the RTX 4070 TI SUPER appears to be 12% to 14% faster than RTX 4070 Ti.
The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is launching on January 24, but tomorrow reviewers will be sharing their initial test results featuring the cheapest models. It is not clear if this particular PNY design will be part of this coverage.
