Michael Bolton revealed that he was diagnosed with brain cancer just before the holidays which required him to undergo ‘immediate surgery.’
The When A Man Loves A Woman singer, 70 – who recently made an appearance on The Masked Singer earlier last year – took to his Facebook page on Friday and opened up about his health to his fans.
He began, ‘I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year! I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges.’
‘Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery.’
The star then positively added, ‘Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.’
Bolton explained that he ‘will be devoting my time and energy to my recovery’ and will ‘take a temporary break from touring.’
‘It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.’
The performer expressed that he is ‘beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me through the years.’
In conclusion, Michael added, ‘Know that I’m keeping your positive messages in my heart, and I’ll give you more updates as soon as I can. Much love always, MB.’
Social media users jumped to the comment section to share their love and well wishes for the singer-songwriter as he focuses on his recovery.
Per the singer’s official website, the Go The Distance hitmaker has various tour dates scheduled throughout 2024, with concerts originally slated to begin on February 1 in Florida.
The star had a busy 2023, such as making an appearance on The Masked Singer as the Wolf, and also performed during the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade last month in December, per The U.S. Sun.
In a pre-recorded special – which had been hosted by Julianne Hough and her brother Derek Hough – Bolton sang the classic track, Joy To The World.
