Nasa explained in the post that, “Around 200,000 light-years across, this galaxy is roughly twice the size of our own Milky Way galaxy, with a similar shape and composition.Young stars appear in blue near the outskirts of the galaxy, while older stars appear toward the center in red.”
Nasa said in its blog that the radiant spiral galaxy, known as NGC 2441 or the constellation Camelopardalis was first observed by German astronomer Wilhelm Tempel in 1882.
Tempel, renowned for his comet discoveries, documented and studied approximately 21 comets, having several comets named in his honor due to his significant contributions.
The image displays sprawling blue spiral arms extending from the center towards the right side of the picture, which emits a yellow-white glow. The image showcases various galaxies and stars in the foreground.
Nasa shared this mesmerizing image approximately 14 hours ago, since then it has garnered over 460,396 likes and numerous reactions.
Comments on the post range from describing the picture as ‘beautiful’ to some expressing it as ‘unbelievable’. One user wrote, “Billions stars and only one civilization? No chance.”
