The Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs have developed quite the rivalry over the last two seasons.
With the Bengals being 3-1 in those matchups that include a split of AFC Championship games, the two teams have gotten to know each other pretty well, and frankly, it doesn’t sound like they like each other.
Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase has always made his feelings on the Chiefs clear, and after returning to practice, Chase had more to say.
Chase says a lot here, but he mainly talks about how no defensive backs on Kansas City’s roster seem to strike much fear in his heart.
“That’s why they double everybody. ‘Cause they can’t do it one on one,” he said.
“It’s not like they’ve got a superstar on their roster,” he added.
Chase knows that he is adding “fuel to the fire,” adding that he hopes the Chiefs “put it in their locker.”
When asked if it was a calculated move to rile up Kansas City’s defense, he said it was a spur of the moment.
“I don’t know, man. I love it.” Chase said.
Chase also touched on his shoulder injury and said the trainers have essentially cleared him to play, and it is his decision. With how he was talking, it certainly sounds like he will play.
While it looks like he will be good to suit up Sunday, it would appear he has some words that he has to back up between the lines.
The fifth matchup of the two teams over the last two seasons shapes up just like the others, with big postseason implications and some trash talk leading up to the game.
Let’s hope Chase backs up his talk if he does suit up at Arrowhead Stadium.
