Epic Games Store free “Mystery Game” for December 24 is Ghostwire: Tokyo

Ghostwire: Tokyo, a 2022 action-adventure game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks, is now available for free on the Epic Games Store.

The game was released worldwide on March 25, 2022, as a one-year timed exclusive for PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Windows. It was later released on Xbox Series X/S on April 12, 2023. The game is played from a first-person perspective and features various psychic and paranormal abilities to defeat the ghosts and spirits haunting Tokyo.

The game’s plot revolves around a massive paranormal event that causes the sudden disappearance of 99% of the population, while spirits from Japanese folklore storm Tokyo. The player character, Akito, has some supernatural powers and must harness them to solve the mystery of the disappearances and save the city. Akito’s mission is to clear the city of the supernatural fog, stop the evil from creating a rift between the land of the living and dead, and rescue his missing sister.

The player must cleanse torii gates across the map to make new areas of the city accessible. The game also features stealth gameplay and has dedicated stealth sections where the player’s supernatural abilities are stripped away, forcing a reliance on traditional weapons. The game’s open world is closed for business at the start, but the player can unlock more parts of the city.

The game officially supports AMD FSR 2.1, NVIDIA DLSS 2 and Intel XeSS 1.0, making it a great demo of all upscaling technologies. To run the game, one will require at least Arc A380 GPU, but recommended specs mention Arc A750 with 8GB memory. For high-fidelity gaming, the minimum is Arc A770, which will enable either 1080p low settings gameplay with ray tracing or alternatively 4K in the highest settings without ray tracing.
