COLlive.com presents a weekly series from the creative minds at the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights. Parsha Studio will explore the Parsha through crafting, painting, science experiments, and culinary art. This week: Paint Resist Fish Painting for Vayechi. Video
Hey there, boys and girls! Welcome back to the Parsha Studio – Paint Edition.
In Parshas Vayechi we learn that Yaakov blesses Yosef’s two sons, Menashe and Ephraim.
We learn about the inspiring story of Menashe and Ephraim, about their courage in remaining steadfast in their values despite being surrounded by the Egyptian culture that was vastly different from their own. They followed the teachings of their father Yosef and lived according to the values of the Torah. Like live fish that can swim against the current, they were blessed to multiply and flourish like fish. The blessing they received reminds us of the importance of holding onto our values and not letting external factors sway us. We too can choose to be like Menashe and Ephraim by staying true to our beliefs and living by our principles, no matter what challenges we may face.
Are you ready to explore the enchanting world of watercolor resist technique? Get ready to witness a magical painting experience! With each stroke of your brush, a hidden picture will slowly be revealed, leaving you mesmerized. Today, we are going to paint a fish going against the current, and with each step, you will feel empowered to stand against your challenges/current. So, let’s dive in and create something extraordinary!
