Former NFL running back and 2008 Super Bowl champion Derrick Ward was arrested Monday on suspicion of committing multiple robberies in Los Angeles, according to multiple reports Tuesday.
Ward, 43, was reportedly arrested in North Hollywood after allegedly being involved in robberies of at least five businesses, including gas stations. Per reports, Ward was not suspected of using firearms in the alleged robberies.
The former NFLer was reportedly taken into custody Monday, booked into jail around 6:30 p.m. PT and being held on $250,000 bond.
Ward was selected in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He played five seasons with the New York Giants, winning Super Bowl XLII against the New England Patriots. He then spent one season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and two with the Houston Texans before retiring in 2011.
