‘The biggest Hamas tunnel’ uncovered near Israel-Gaza border: IDF

New video reveals “the biggest Hamas tunnel” yet discovered by Israel — and includes eerie footage of the Palestinian terrorists building it.

The building of the massive 2.5-mile-long labyrinth was overseen by Mohammad Sinwar, the brother of Oct. 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar, Israeli officials said Sunday.

The Israel Defense Forces said the newly discovered massive tunnel under Gaza is wide enough to allow vehicles and heavy equipment to travel through it and equipped in sections with railroad-like tracks, electricity and ventilation systems.

“EXPOSED: The biggest Hamas terrorist tunnel discovered,” the IDF said in a tweet posting the footage.

“This massive tunnel system branches out and spans well over four kilometers (2.5 miles). Its entrance is located only 400 meters (1,310 feet) from the Erez Crossing—used by Gazans on a daily basis to enter Israel for work and medical treatment in Israeli hospitals,” the Israeli army wrote.

“This tunnel system was a project led by Mohammad Sinwar, the brother of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, and the commander of Hamas’ Khan Yunis Battalion,” it added.

Other footage included in the post was said to have been retrieved from Hamas “weeks ago” showing the terrorists traveling through and maintaining the large tunnel corridors, according to the IDF.

The video shows dozens of Hamas members constructing the passageways during an undisclosed date, with several cuts to the different corridors that the tunnel is connected to.

One such hallway leads to a damaged door, and once the terrorists break through it, they are met with a destroyed room.

Another clip shows a Hamas member locking a cell inside the tunnels, and a separate cut reveals a ladder that leads to a separate exit inside Gaza.

The clips also offer a rare look at Hamas members using a drill to excavate underground, extending the tunnel system and adding shafts for plumbing and electrical work.

The IDF alleged that the large tunnel was a project led by Sinwar’s brother, Mohammad Sinway, who also serves as the commander of Hamas’ Khan Younis battalion.

The location of the tunnel is alarming given its proximity to the Erez Crossing.

Since the war began, Israel said it has uncovered more than 800 tunnel corridors across Gaza, all entrances to the estimated 300-mile-long subterranean system operated by Hamas.

More than 500 of those corridors have been destroyed, with the Jewish state now pumping seawater into the tunnels to destroy the “Gaza metro,”  the Wall Street Journal reported.

While the tactic could see the tunnel system flooded and inoperable, serving as a major plow to Hamas, it has its own risks, as many of the hostages are believed to be held underground.

Environmental experts have also warned that such a strategy would have long-lasting impacts on the groundwater across the Gaza Strip.

The pumping is in an early stage, and its effectiveness is still being studied, the Journal reported, adding that other tactics include airstrikes, liquid explosives and the dispatch of dogs, drones and robots into the tunnels.
