Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, the team announced Wednesday after putting together an impressive showing in the team’s win over the Tennessee Titans.
Lawrence completed 24 of 32 (75 percent) passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran five times for 17 yards and two touchdowns, becoming the first player in Jaguars history to throw and rush for two touchdowns in a single game.
“I thought he played well. He was in control the whole game, knew where he wanted to go with the football, was able to move in the pocket and do some good things,” Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said of Lawrence.
“Really, kind of ran the offense, distributing the ball with the guy it was supposed to go to, protecting the ball, first of all, protecting himself.”
Lawrence’s QBR of 90.8 against the Titans was the second-highest in his career. Lawrence posted a QBR of 95.9 in the team’s 24-0 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2 of last season.

Lawrence won AFC Offensive Player of the Week last year against the Titans, too, in a Week 14, 36-22 victory that began a run to the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs.
After a subpar rookie season marred by controversy surrounding the club, Lawrence massively improved during his second season, his first year under head coach Doug Pederson.
Lawrence completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He added 291 yards and five touchdowns on the ground last year, too en route to an AFC South title.
This year against tougher competition, the franchise QB hasn’t had as much success through the air in terms of scoring but has done well enough for his team to win games. Lawrence has completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 2,382 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions.
The Jaguars remain in the driver’s seat for the AFC South title yet again but will have to defeat the 6-4 Houston Texans this weekend to stay in that position. The Jaguars have lost to the Texans already this year and will look to avoid getting swept by the club, something they avoided for the first time in several years last season.
