Davide Renne Is Moschino’s New Creative Director

Back in March, Jeremy Scott announced that he’d be stepping down as Creative Director of Moschino after 10 incredible years at the helm. Since then, all eyes have been on the brand in anticipation of who would follow and now, it’s been announced that Davide Renne will be stepping in.

First appointed in October 2013, Scott was at the helm of the brand’s most vibrant collections, collaborations and runway shows, lauded for his tongue-in-cheek approach to social commentary and consumerism. Launching collaborations with the likes of H&M, McDonald’s, The Sims and even London-based streetwear label, Palace, Scott’s unique vision is one that undeniably paved the way for other luxury brands to try not to take themselves too seriously.

“These past 10 years at Moschino have been a wonderful celebration of creativity and imagination,” Scott said in a press release. I am so proud of the legacy I am leaving behind. I would like to thank Massimo Ferretti for the honor of leading this iconic House. I would also like to thank all my fans around the world who celebrated me, my collections and my vision, for without you, none of this would be possible.”

After two decades of designing womenswear at Gucci, Renne is set to assume the role of Creative Director at Moschino on November 1 2023, with his first collection set to debut for Fall/Winter 2024 during Milan Fashion Week next year.

“Franco Moschino had a nickname for his design studio: la sala giochi — the playroom. This resonates deeply with me: what fashion — Italian fashion especially, and the House of Moschino most of all, can achieve with its enormous power, should be accomplished with a sense of play, of joy. A sense of discovery, and experimentation” says Renne in a statement.

“I am very conscious of the honor that Mr. Ferretti — a gentleman who has been almost fatherly in his ability to listen and establish a dialogue during our encounters has bestowed upon me in taking charge of the House founded by one of fashion’s great minds. So, thank you Mr. Ferretti for giving me the keys to your playroom. I can’t wait to begin — we’ll have fun. Together”.
