While the fashion set focused on France for the ongoing Paris Fashion Week, Chanel managed to sneak in a chic dinner over the weekend in New York City for a couple of its A-list collaborators.
Timothée Chalamet ducked into Bemelmans Bar at the famed Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where he joined legendary auteur Martin Scorsese to toast their partnership on the Bleu de Chanel campaign. Earlier this year, the Dune star debuted as the latest face of Chanel’s men’s fragrance, and for the campaign, Chalamet teamed with photographer Mario Sorrenti for the images and clips, as well as Scorsese for an accompanying short film. All three were in attendance Saturday night, along with guests like filmmaker Josh Safdie and Gossip Girl star Whitney Peak.

Originally launched in 2010, Bleu de Chanel is the house’s woody, aromatic fragrance designed for “the man who defies convention.” Perhaps as a nod to that description, Chalamet turned up to the dinner on theme in a brown monochromatic look by Tom Ford that seemed primed for fall. He paired a shiny leather blazer with a slim-fit shirt and pants from the spring 2024 collection designed by Peter Hawkings.
The dinner proved to be an intimate affair — with no press or journalists allowed inside — but the images captured show Chalamet and Scorsese catching up and spending some quality time together. In an interview with Vogue earlier this year, the actor opened up briefly about their Chanel partnership. “I have some friends that aren’t as interested in the high fashion space, but when I tell them I’m doing a short film with Martin Scorsese in New York, their ears prick up,” he explained. “He lives and breathes moviemaking. The conversations we’ve had over Zoom have been super enthused. For him, it’s like hitting the treadmill.”
Scorsese is prepping for the release of Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone, while Chalamet will soon hit screens in Wonka and the Dune sequel.
