New DC Universe fan art imagines what Timothée Chalamet could look like as the iconic superhero Nightwing for DC Studios. A new DC Universe is on its way, as it will replace the DCEU and give Warner Bros. Discovery a fresh chance at doing an interconnected superhero franchise. While several actors have joined the DC Universe already, including David Corenswet as Superman, there are still an endless amount of characters who have yet to be cast.
One of the mythologies that will exist in James Gunn’s DC Universe is Batman and his extended family, which will help separate itself from other live-action iterations, such as Robert Pattinson’s The Batman universe. Whether it is Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, or Robin, speculation is in full force as to who should get cast in the respective roles for DC Studios.
When it comes to Dick Grayson, Buffy2Ville recently shared artwork of Chalamet, where he gets pitched as Nightwing in Gunn’s DC Universe with an armored version of his iconic costume. The gallery features what the Dune and Wonka star would look like as the beloved crime-fighter both with and without his mask.
How Batman: The Brave And The Bold Can Introduce The DCU’s Nightwing
While the Nightwing movie may have been canceled, one of Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe projects may already be setting up Grayson in the franchise. One of the major Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters” projects that are in the works is Batman: The Brave and The Bold, which will serve as Bruce Wayne’s reboot in the DC Universe, although this will not be an origin story and instead focus on an established Caped Crusader.
Since Batman: The Brave and The Bold will introduce Damian Wayne, Bruce’s biological son and the fourth hero to use the Robin mantle, the DC Universe will already have a fleshed-out Bat-Family in this continuity. In the original announcement for Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Gunn and Peter Safran even mentioned that Bat-Family members would likely appear in the movie, although they didn’t mention any specific characters. If they are this far in the Bat-mythology in the DC Universe, Grayson would already be Nightwing at this point, meaning chances are strong that he will be introduced through Batman: The Brave and The Bold.
Since Titans came to an end this year, which featured Brenton Thwaites as Nightwing, it is about time for the big screen to introduce the iconic DC hero. Titans served as a good entry point for general audiences to get to know Nightwing, and from there, the DC Universe can tackle Grayson from a new angle as an active member of the Bat-Family. Hopefully, the plans for Nightwing in the DC Universe will become clearer sooner rather than later.
