The leaves are changing (actually, not really, but it seems like they should be), everyone’s going back to school, and CVS is already selling Halloween candy. In other words, fall is creeping in, AND YET, it’s still somehow 80 million degrees outside.
Enter: Emily Ratajkowski, who’s out here continuing to perfect the art of dressing for this awkward summer-to-fall transition period. Emily was spotted in New York City on August 30 wearing a chic, pinstriped dress and boots. The rich plum pinstripes? Undeniably giving fall. But the strappy top and mini-skirt? Straight summer. And EmRata went ahead and accessorized her ‘fit with a pair of white go-go boots, giving the whole look a distinct 1960s feel.
In case you’re in the mood to recreate this moment, Emily is wearing the Jade Asym Mini Dress from Bec + Bridge, which retails for $280.
Emily told Grazia back in 2022 that she used to be intimidated by all the “rules” of fashion, saying, “when I started modeling full-time, I felt intimidated by fashion. I felt there were so many rules. But as I grew up and became more comfortable with myself, more of a woman, I was like, ‘This can be fun.’ Breaking the rules intentionally, understanding the history of fashion in the way I hadn’t before. Pulling from that.”
She also chatted with PopSugar about her go-to fashion formula, confessing that mom jeans are a must: “I often just throw on a crop, a belt, and a sneaker and just make it all about the jeans. Sometimes with an oversized blazer, if you’re going for a Princess Diana moment. Just lean in. I also like leaving a little bit of a sock. Like depending on the flare, you can tuck them in and have a big sock. Kind of cute.”
