Premier Scott Moe announces several changes to the provincial cabinet Tuesday, including six ministers who will remain in cabinet but take on new responsibilities.
Former education minister Dustin Duncan is becoming Minister of Crown Investments Corporation and Minister responsible for all the major Crowns, such as SaskPower, SaskEnergy, SaskTel, SGI and SaskWater. This comes after former Crowns Minister Don Morgan announced his retirement. Duncan will also be Minister responsible for the Public Service Commission. Jeremy Cockrill is the new Education Minister.
Paul Merriman, former health minister, is becoming Minister of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, as well as Minister responsible for the Firearms Secretariat. Everett Hindley is now the Minister of Health. Christine Tell is the new Minister of Environment, after Dana Skoropad announced he was leaving cabinet, and Lori Carr is becoming the Minister of Highways.
In addition, Moose Jaw North MLA Tim McLeod enters cabinet for the first time as Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors and Rural and Remote Health, and Prince Albert Carleton MLA Joe Hargrave re-enters cabinet as Minister of SaskBuilds and Procurement.
The other nine ministers remain in their current positions. There are still 18 people in cabinet, including Premier Moe.
The new cabinet was sworn in Tuesday by Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty.
