BUCYRUS—Crawford County is currently experiencing a slight uptick in reported cases of Covid. Kate Seifert, Director of the Crawford County Department of Health, acknowledges that this recent increase is challenging to compare with past outbreaks due to changes in mandated reporting procedures.
Although hospitals and nursing facilities continue to report cases, many individuals and employers may not be upholding the same standards when it comes to reporting Covid cases. It’s important to note that while Covid tests may not always detect new variants of the virus, as with all contagious illnesses, it is advisable to stay home if you are feeling unwell.
Seifert emphasizes the importance of adhering to preventative measures, including regular handwashing, maintaining social distancing, and wearing masks when in public spaces.
Seifert also mentioned that while government mandates for masking are not anticipated, some medical offices, hospitals, nursing homes, or facilities treating high-risk patients may still require mask usage.
While a Covid test is just one of the tools available, it remains a valuable one. Covid-19 tests are accessible in the lobby of the Crawford County Health Department, situated at 1520 Isaac-Beal Rd. in Bucyrus. The lobby operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
