San Diego ISD students attend Coastal Bend Regional Science Fair, Texas Science and Engineering Fair – Alice Echo News Journal

Virginia Day, sophomore, and Matthew Zamora, senior, from San Diego High School attended the Coastal Bend Regional Science Fair on Feb. 11. Day and Zamora placed first as a team in the Senior Division-Category: Behavioral and Social Sciences (BEHA). They both received the American Psychological Association for their Eye Sensitivity to Color project. Both advanced to the Texas Science and Engineering Fair (State Science Fair) at Texas A&M University – College Station which occurred on March 24 and 25.

Juan Oscar Gonzalez, freshman, from San Diego HS also attended Coastal Bend Regional Science Fair on Feb. 11. He placed second in the Senior Division-Category: Embedded Systems (EBED). He advanced to the Texas Science and Engineering Fair (State Science Fair) at Texas A&M University – College Station on March 24 and 25.

Xiomara Landa, junior, from San Diego HS also attended the Coastal Bend Regional Science Fair on Feb. 11. She placed second in the Senior Division-Category: Behavioral and Social Sciences (BEHA). She advanced to the Texas Science and Engineering Fair (State Science Fair) at Texas A&M University – College Station on March 24 and 25.

Alyson Gonzalez, a sixth grader at Bernarda Jaime Junior High (BJJH), attended the Coastal Bend Regional Science Fair-on Feb. 11. She placed second in the Junior Division- Category: System Software (SOFT). She advanced to the Texas Science and Engineering Fair (State Science Fair) at Texas A&M University – College Station on March 24 and 25.

Carina Sanchez, eighth grader at BJJH. She attended the Coastal Bend Regional Science Fair on Feb. 11. She placed first in the Junior Division Category: Embedded Systems (EBED). She received the Thermo Fisher Award for her project: RFID Blocker. She advanced to the Texas Science and Engineering Fair (State Science Fair) at Texas A&M University – College Station on March 24 and 25.

Trustea Davila, eighth grader at BJJH, attended the Coastal Bend Regional Science Fair on Feb. 11. She was in the Junior Division-Category: Behavioral and Social Sciences (BEHA). She placed first in the Local BJJH Science Fair Competition.

Coaches were Nancy L. Gonzalez-Montez and Ashley Saenz.

There were over 20,000 students that attended the Regional Science Fair throughout Texas and only 1,000 were selected to attend the Texas Science and Engineering Fair at Texas A&M University.
