A Red Dead Redemption 2 player has noticed a small detail about the game’s horses after 1900 hours of playtime. Red Dead Redemption 2 showcases some of the most realistic horse riding ever seen in a video game, and every detail is an essential part of the experience.
When Red Dead Redemption 2 was initially released, it was hailed as a masterpiece with particular praise reserved for its remarkable attention to detail throughout. Just recently, one gamer noticed a gruesome combat detail while using Red Dead Redemption 2’s Photo Mode. The fact that so many things are still being discovered in the game speaks to Rockstar’s incredible work on the title, which will be approaching five years old later this year. There’s a sense that gamers are nowhere near to unveiling everything the game has to offer either, with seemingly no end to the new discoveries.
This particular discovery was made by Redditor lumbaginator, who posted that on their fifth playthrough, with almost 1900 hours of playtime, they’ve just discovered that they’re able to back up their horse. Red Dead Redemption 2‘s horses feature rather solid riding mechanics that beats a lot of what is out there at the moment. In many games with horses, they’re often pointed to as a weak point of the gameplay, but Rockstar managed to avoid that curse with Red Dead Redemption 2. With a lot to learn in order to fully master horse mechanics, it’s no surprise that some parts of it have managed to slip by some gamers.
While a lot of players might have discovered this feature almost immediately in the game, the comments of the thread justified their confusion. Many others also had no idea it was possible to back up their horse in Red Dead Redemption 2, with many just choosing to turn and run forwards until they go the right way. One player even shared that they’d lost many delivery wagons in the game because it just didn’t occur to them to back up, so it’s clear the feature is somewhat hidden to plenty of players.
With Red Dead Redemption 3 presumably a very long way from release, it could be a while before gamers see Rockstar’s horses back in action. It’s extremely unlikely that GTA 6 features any sort of horse feature, although stranger things have definitely happened. One thing is for sure – fans are clamoring for GTA 6 to feature Red Dead Redemption 2‘s attention to detail. If it achieves this, it could break sales records in the same way that GTA 5 did when it released almost a decade ago.
